Ok so i've decided to go with the same layout and design of the previous magazine you see to the left of the page. I will update the front page to make it look a bit more like a fashion mag such as using a huge picture of something with food and garden to take up the whole page. With the cover having the titles of what to expect inside. I'll be starting this week with the design while i'm still in the process of collecting information, i thought this might make more sense and kill two birds at the same time. In addition, i have collected information on at least 4 topics which is enough to start putting together.

Grow Box
I finally got through to the Ministry of Agriculture, they called me back with name of the trainer in Belmont who could help me find people who have been maintaining their grow box. I contacted Ms. Patricia Crossley who gave me the names of 6 people she knew in her area and the St. James area i could contact. After calling nearly all of them, most of them had already reaped their plants or was not willing to meet with me i contacted a Cynthia Braithwaite living in Belmont, Waterman Road. She and her husband were most delighted for me to come and meet them and to show me their garden. We set up and appointment for 4pm today. I went to the place they were very helpful to me as well, and for the small space they have it is occuped quite well. She even gave me some limes to take back home with me as she says limes are her vitamin c and economical to her to have a tree. It is 2.50 in the grocery she informed me. I also got some fern seeds to take home as well and try my hand to plant. I was invited to come back and get some tomatoes just as soon as they ripe. In addition, i had a phone interview with another lady by the name of Jane Whiskey about the grow box project and her experiences with it. Well this weekend is all about taking more pictures of some gardens, different gardens and after the summit i can make my way up to UWI and Freeport to complete two more articles.

Meeting Dates and confirmations
Well... I'm meeting with Mrs. Patricia Jagessar at UWI on Thursday at 2pm, she is doing a thesis on the symbiosis of gardens, people and groups In addition, she is taking me to the food park to see what the agricultural department is doing on new and traditonal methods of farming. I have another shot at a meeting with JOhn Banfield on his hydrophonics method, hoepfully i can get there this time!! The ministry of Agriculture is contacting someone in my area that i can link up with in terms of the growbox initiative to see what they have been doing. I will call them back however cause you know how the ministries can give you the run around. Went onto consumer affairs website and got some useful info on shopping, saving money at the grocery etc. However i tried calling them 3 times today and they are always busy. Until next time its Media Wyke signing out!!! lol

Appointment made but never made it
So i called John Banfield, the hydrophonics guy and made an appointment with him to go to his farm in Freeport. He organised that he would pick me up at 4:30 as he lives in Diamond Vale. SO we agreed to this. It is now 11pm and i just had a thought that i dont know him, dont exactly know where freeport is either so i sent him a text to tell him that i wanted to re-schedule, cause i wanted to bring a friend, i told him that safety was an issue. He called me right after and proceeded to laugh at me for being so over protective of myself... he said that he wasn't going by himself he was going with his best friend and cousin, i started to laugh and told him that didnt make things any better!!! He asked me what i want to know about him so that i would feel better about going with him. I replied a murderer would not say that he murders people would he!! Anyway long and short of the story, i re-scheduled for another time later this week. Yup so i could have been left to die in Freeport LOL LOL.
