Presentations

So... We had our presentations today, mine went ok, i think people understood what i wanted to do, no-one asked any questions tho, not sure if it was cause they understood or because they were not interested. I asked a couple people after what they thought and they liked the idea and the concept. Hope i can live up to the expectations... I however forgot to mention that the magazine would be an online one but so it goes.. until next time

Finalizing topics

So i figured out all the topics that i want to cover in the magazine here's a few:
Grow Box initiative, Garden space, ON growing plants and vegetables, New Tech, recipes, Organic foods, Herbal remedies and solutions, UWI, planters for social change, the sustainability of the home garden, the relationship between people, groups and gardens, The UWI food park. Consumer affairs and Marijuana friend or foe?

I contacted a young lady - Patricia Jagessar -Clement who is working on her thesis from UWI, she is willinging to help me on the research i need as well as she put me on to her husband, Dr. Yuri Clement who is a pharmacologist, research scientist. I also contacted a guy by the name of John Banfield who my technology segment will be on, hydroponics. Tonight i'm going through the layout of the magazine and do a rough mock up on what i want it to look like.

So thats it for now.

Organising the layout

I decided roughly the sketch of the magazine as in the segments, columns, editorials, features etc. I contacted some people in regard to interviewing them and taking photos. The grow box initiative, a couple of professors from UWI, interesting people and things being discovered.

Catch you on the flip side!

MediaWyke decides on final Media project

So, we have to come up with this brilliant innovative idea for our final media project and for once i was at a loss. For the past three years i have been doing everything with or around television production. So for my final project i have decided to do a magazine. Yes it may sound a bit boring but i think my idea is kinda cool.

So Patrick Manning say tighten yuh belt! Honestly i'm so tired of that phrase where did it even originate anyway??? My mag is going to be on Food and Garden, how to grow your food and i mean food that you cam make a meal out of not just tomatoes and herbs to make pasta i talking about real trini food. I want to talk about the grow box iniative that was happening in Trini not to long ago as well as growing a garden for specific spaces whether it be a studio apt or a 5 bedroom house with plenty garden space. I'm going to be looking at hydrophonics which is growing vegetables without soil, as well as plants that can be used for medicinal purposes. In addition you know you have to get some easy to make recipes.

So thats about it i started sourcing some prices to print the mag through some friends in the ad agencies. I am also fiddling with the idea of doing a flash based website for the mag as well just for the fun of it.

Thats all for now
